SILENT OBSERVER OF ALBION, INC.

Purpose:

To receive confidential and anonymous information from the public concerning criminal activity and the identities of perpetrators of crimes within the City of Albion and in the Townships of Sheridan, Albion and Marengo in Calhoun County and in the Township of Parma in Jackson County. The Board provides reward payments and awards, assists in education on the causes and occurrences of crimes and on available resources for crime victims, to assist local law enforcement agencies, to combat juvenile delinquency, and to solicit funds and to engage in activities to further those aforementioned as authorized by law for Michigan nonprofit corporations.

Establishment:
By “concerned citizens” (per Don Murray).

Membership:
Five members at large chosen by the Board, one member nominated by the Chief of Public Safety, County Prosecutor and Chamber of Commerce each and the immediate past president of the Board. Nine members total.

Term:
Three years.

Meetings:
Annual meeting – first Tuesday of November, 8:15 a.m., other meetings as needed.

Compensation:
None.

Membership names are confidential. While their activities are related to public safety issues, this is not a City Board.
