Bidding and Purchasing

The Purchasing Division of the Office of the  City Manager is responsible for all bidding and purchasing functions of the city in accordance with the City of Albion City Charter and purchasing code

The City of Albion regularly invites vendors to submit price quotes, competitive bids, and statements of qualifications for goods and services that the city needs to manage its operations.  The city is a proud member of the Michigan Intergovernmental Trade Network (MITN), a municipal cooperative that collaborates on the bidding and purchasing of municipal goods and services, and the city utilizes a web based bidding system, BidNet Direct, to manage its bidding and purchasing functions.  All vendors interested in selling goods or services to the city must register as a vendor on the city's BidNet Direct/MITN system to be able to access, view, and download bidding and purchasing documents.  Registration is free of charge and only takes a few minutes to complete.  Registration also provides additional advantages and opportunities for vendors, such as access to other municipalities' bid advertisements in Michigan and throughout the United States.  Vendors can search for these opportunities on the system.  BidNet Direct also offers an optional subscription service that allows vendors to receive automatic E-mail notifications of bid opportunities matching the good or service codes of the vendor.
